Less Tracking, More Living

Many of us wish social media never existed, yet feel like we can’t give it up. We use our phones for the simplest of tasks from recipes, to directions, to tracking what we ate this week. Almost everything we do is tracked or measured in some shape or form. It led me to ask the question… “Can I take my kids outside even if I’m not a part of the 1,000 hour group?”

This is a poem-type ramble that came to me at one in the morning. I want to give myself permission to put my phone down and live my life. Take a look. ↓

Can I go on a walk without my phone?

Complete a workout without a watch?

Can I go outside without checking a box?

Can I listen to waves crashing without a playlist?

Can I hike to the view without a post?

Can I bask in the beauty of a sunset without taking a picture?

Can I read a book without a goal?

Write some words just because?

Can I read my Bible? Even if it takes longer than a year?

Can I plant some seeds to watch them grow? Without the opinions of strangers telling me how my home should be?

Can I talk to my friends? Going deep and sharing insights without an RSS feed?

Can I eat a healthy meal? Savoring each bite without tracking the macros or calories?

Can I be present with my kids? Can I remember without a video? Making memories that are just ours?

Can I create without the validation from an algorithm? To be what I am and not what a collection of data thinks I should be?

Can I grow just by being?

I think I can.

Less posting, more presence.

Less curating, more enjoying.

Less measured success, more slow growth.

Less tracking, more living.
