Devotionals & Study Bibles
These are just a handful of some of the most meaningful devotionals and Study Bibles that have made an impact on my life. Don’t forget that nothing can replace daily reading of the word of God - devotionals are great to help us understand the text or see a new perspective, but they do not replace the Bible. They can compliment your daily study. 😌

Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation
CCEF is a resource for equipping the church in Christian counseling. I have found that many of the articles and videos are super helpful for navigating my own mental health and spiritual growth.

The Briefing Podcast with Albert Mohler
I try and avoid news these days, but if I’m wanting to catch up on important issues and headlines, I usually pull up an episode of The Briefing - a daily podcast about news and events from the biblical worldview.
Read Scripture App
The Bible Project
Read through the Bible with helpful videos along the way explaining how it all connects — from Old Testament Sacrifices to the scattered people of Israel — the gospel message is there. These videos also provide help in understanding tricky passages of scripture. Can’t recommend it enough!
Tim Challies Blog
I’ve been reading this one for as long as I can remember — Tim Challies is authentic, profound, and an excellent resource. The articles are usually pretty short so I can get through a few when I’m browsing his site. He also puts together an “a la carte” every day where he shares various articles from other bloggers. There’s good stuff here! I also really appreciate how he has gone out of his way to ensure his readers know he doesn’t use AI for content — that means a lot to me.
Websites & Podcasts
It goes without saying that just about anything that Desiring God puts out is amazing content that can help you grow in your understanding of theology and living out your faith unto the glory of God. There’s a few other helpful resources listed below.
Miscellaneous Books
I enjoy reading books that help me grow in my faith - there’s no doubt about that. However, in the last few years I have been growing interested in psychology, social studies, mindset, habits, personal growth, technology/smartphone use and even financial growth. I’m sure these interests have been born out of my and Jared owning Howell Made Media. While there are plenty of helpful Christian Living books that may offer some practical application, I have found that there are many other materials out there that can be a great benefit to learning and growing. I also feel like it helps widen our understanding of the world when we read materials that aren’t only about Christian living. I’ve ventured out and have really been enjoying these books recommended below.
It’s an interesting place to be — a devout follower of Jesus reading books categorized as “self help.” Read books like this with caution and submission to Christ. I’ve also found a deep spiritual undertone in SO many of these books. Any of the information or application they provide is only good because it comes from the divine creator of all. God alone gives us confidence, a sound mind, and helps us “grow ourselves” so that we can glorify him with our lives and serve others. Often my faith is deepened, not hindered. (A blog post coming soon on this! I think I just wrote half of it haha.)

“Life-changing moments come in sentences and paragraphs, not in long, long remembrances of whole books. Lights go on, our hearts are strangely warm, the experience comes of an immeasurable moment, and we are changed decisively.”
- Pastor John Piper
